The LSU Tigers overcame a slow start to earn a hard-fought 20-10 win over South Carolina on Saturday. After struggling early, LSU found momentum in the second quarter when quarterback Garrett Nussmeier connected with tight end Trey’Dez Green for their first touchdown, giving the Tigers a 10-7 lead.
Offensively, LSU moved the ball well but struggled to finish drives, partly due to the absence of star wide receiver Aaron Anderson, who missed the game with an injury. In his place, Kyle Parker stepped up with a clutch 43-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter to extend LSU’s lead to 17-10.
Nussmeier faced some adversity, throwing two key interceptions that kept South Carolina within reach. However, LSU’s defense remained strong and disciplined, forcing two turnovers of their own and holding the Gamecocks scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Late in the game, Nussmeier once again found Trey’Dez Green for an 18-yard completion, bringing the tight end’s total to 95 yards on seven receptions. Green later surpassed the 100-yard mark as LSU methodically ran down the clock. Caden Durham contributed with an 11-yard burst and Barion Brown added another key reception as the Tigers closed out the 20-10 victory.
