The Tampa Bay Lightning finally broke through for their first win of the season, defeating the previously unbeaten Boston Bruins (3-0) by a score of 4-3. With backup goaltender Jonas Johansson in net, the Lightning came out firing early.
Just 1:09 into the first period, Anthony Cirelli opened the scoring with a slick tip-in goal assisted by Jake Guentzel and Cole Goncalves. Later in the period, Cirelli struck again — this time off another setup from Guentzel and Goncalves — giving Tampa Bay a 2-0 lead.
Boston pushed back in the second and third periods, but Tampa’s offense kept rolling, adding two more goals to stay ahead. Johansson, despite allowing three goals, had a solid outing with 30 saves and a .909 save percentage.
With the 4-3 win, the Lightning (1-3-0) end their early-season drought and look to carry that momentum into tomorrow’s matchup against the Washington Capitals.
