PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. — Edison High School pulled an insane comeback Friday
afternoon, defeating Palos Verdes 21-20 after blocking a potential game-winning field goal in the
last seconds of the fourth quarter.
Palos Verdes quarterback Ryan Rakowski delivered a standout performance, accounting for all
three of the Sea Kings’ touchdowns. He connected on one passing score and ran for two more,
getting across the goal line to give his team the lead for most of the game.
But Edison responded late, tightening the score by scoring 14 points in the fourth, and keeping
the pressure on. In the closing moments, the Sea Kings lined up for a field goal that could have
sealed the win. With seconds to spare, Blaise Burwell blocked Niko Dragin’s 33-yard field
goal, swatting down the attempt to preserve the one-point victory.
The win gives Edison the lead, making them 3-1 in their season, while Palos Verdes is left with
despair despite Rakowski’s heroic performanc
