It was a dominant start by Emmett Sheehan, who kept the Phillies’ offense quiet with six shutout innings, allowing just one hit. The Phillies managed only five hits total in the game, but they made the most of their opportunities late.
With a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth, the Phillies turned to Jhoan Duran, who has been lights-out recently. However, with one out and Andy Pages at the plate, Duran surrendered a solo home run that tied the game at 5–5.
In the top of the 10th, the Phillies sent MVP favorite Kyle Schwarber to the plate to lead off. Schwarber had already hit his 53rd homer of the season earlier in the game but lined out to start the inning. The Dodgers then intentionally walked Bryce Harper, setting up J.T. Realmuto—hitless on the night with an 0-for-4 line. Realmuto delivered in the clutch, lifting a sacrifice fly to give the Phillies a 6–5 lead.
Veteran David Robertson came in to close the door in the bottom of the 10th, shutting down the Dodgers and locking up the save. Jhoan Duran was credited with the win.
With the victory, the Phillies officially clinched the NL East title for the second straight year. This team is hungry, battle-tested, and looks every bit the part of a serious World Series contender.
