Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered one of his best outings of the season, striking out 10 batters and carrying a no-hitter into the ninth inning. With just one out remaining, the no-hit bid—and the game—unraveled.
Jackson Holliday broke up the no-hitter with a solo home run, cutting the Dodgers’ lead to 3–1 and ending Yamamoto’s night. Manager Dave Roberts turned to Blake Treinen to get the final out, but things quickly spiraled.
Treinen gave up a double, aided by a misplay in the outfield by Andy Pages, then hit the next batter. A walk followed, loading the bases with two outs. Treinen then issued another walk, forcing in a run and trimming the lead to 3–2.
With the game on the line, the Dodgers called in Tanner Scott, whose tenure in Los Angeles has been rocky. Needing just one out to seal the win, the Dodgers instead watched Emmanuel Rivera lace a walk-off two-run single, giving the opposing team a dramatic 4–3 victory. Scott was charged with his ninth blown save of the season.
The loss marks the Dodgers’ fifth straight defeat, and they’ll now try to avoid getting swept in back-to-back series in tomorrow’s finale.
