The Anaheim Ducks opened their 2025–26 season with a 3-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken, but rookie Beckett Sennecke delivered a memorable moment in his NHL debut. The 19-year-old winger, selected eighth overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, scored the Ducks’ first goal of the season — and his first career goal — in the opening period.
The first period ended tied 1-1 after Sennecke answered Seattle’s early strike, but the Ducks couldn’t capitalize on their chances the rest of the way. Seattle regained the lead in the second period and later added an empty-net goal in the third to secure the win.
Goaltender Lukas Dostal stood tall with 28 saves, giving Anaheim a chance to stay in the game despite offensive struggles.
Though the Ducks came up short on the scoreboard, Sennecke’s strong debut gave fans plenty to be excited about as Anaheim begins a new season with a promising young core.
