The Phillies fell in Game 1 of the NLDS after the Dodgers mounted a late comeback to secure a 5–3 win. Cy Young candidate Cristopher Sánchez took the mound and delivered a solid outing, going five innings while allowing four hits, two runs, and striking out eight.

Philadelphia’s offense got off to a hot start in the second inning when Alec Bohm drew a walk, Brandon Marsh singled, and J.T. Realmuto followed with a two-run triple. Harrison Bader added a sacrifice fly to cap off a three-run frame.

However, the Phillies’ bats went quiet after that, managing only three more hits for the rest of the game. The turning point came in the seventh inning, when Teoscar Hernández crushed a two-out, three-run homer to give the Dodgers a 5–3 lead they would not relinquish.

The Dodgers’ bullpen shut things down the rest of the way, handing the Phillies the loss. Philadelphia will look to bounce back tomorrow in Game 2.
