The Phillies pulled out a tight 1-0 win over the Mets, powered by a strong outing from Aaron Nola. The veteran right-hander, who has had an up-and-down few seasons in Philadelphia, delivered a clutch performance when it mattered most. Nola tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out seven — a much-needed confidence boost as the postseason approaches.

Offensively, the Phillies managed just one run off Mets rookie Nolan McLean, despite collecting all seven of their hits against him. That lone run came in the second inning on a Nick Castellanos RBI, and it proved to be all they needed.

Jhoan Duran came on in the ninth to close things out. Despite giving up two hits, he struck out two batters and locked down his 28th save of the season.

With the win, the Phillies now hold an eight-game lead over the Mets in the division. They’ll look to extend that lead tomorrow with ace and Cy Young candidate Cristopher Sánchez set to take the mound.
