LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani was lights out Wednesday night, striking out a season-high nine batters as the Dodgers beat the Reds 5–1 to complete the sweep at Dodger Stadium. The win, combined with a Padres loss to Seattle, gives L.A. a two-game lead in the NL West.
Michael Conforto, quiet most of the year, broke out with two hits including a solo homer. Rookie Dalton Rushing and veteran Kiké Hernández each drove in two runs to help seal the win.
With the postseason approaching, the Dodgers are getting hot at just the right time.
