After making a statement in Week 1 against Texas, the Buckeyes took full advantage of a much lighter opponent in Week 2, dominating Grambling State 70-0 in Columbus.
Quarterback Julian Sayin continued his strong start to the season, throwing for four touchdowns and just one interception — which, notably, was his only incomplete pass of the game. His efficiency and poise are quickly turning heads nationwide.
The star of the show, once again, was Jeremiah Smith, who many (myself included) consider the best player in the country and a leading Heisman contender. Smith finished with 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his elite talent.
Another standout from the receiver room was Carnell Tate, one of the more underrated wideouts on this stacked roster. Tate pulled in five catches for 69 yards and a touchdown, continuing to show why he deserves more national attention.
On the defensive side, Caleb Downs, arguably the top defensive player in college football, recorded his first interception of the season along with a tackle for loss. His impact on the field is undeniable, anchoring a dominant Buckeyes defense.
Fans also got a glimpse of the future as five-star freshman quarterback Tavon St. Clair saw a few snaps late in the game. While he didn’t complete any passes, there’s plenty of excitement around his potential moving forward.
Next week, the Buckeyes will travel to Seattle to face the Washington Huskies in what promises to be a much more competitive matchup. All eyes will be on how they handle the road test, especially against elite running back prospect Jonah Coleman, who leads the Huskies’ ground game.
