The Toronto Maple Leafs have been in “Cup or bust” mode since the full emergence of the Core Four. Now, with Mitch Marner gone, a glaring hole has opened up in the top six. If the Leafs are serious about making another legitimate run at the Stanley Cup, they must move swiftly to acquire a high-impact forward.

The pressure is mounting in Toronto. After years of early playoff exits, blown series leads, and unfulfilled potential, fans are growing more impatient by the day. It’s time for management to step up and support the trio of Auston Matthews, John Tavares, and William Nylander with a significant addition.

A top-six forward would not only fill the void left by Marner, but also inject new life into a team that’s been spinning its wheels in the postseason. Here are a few names that could make a massive impact:

1. Kirill Kaprizov (Minnesota Wild)

Admittedly a long shot, but not entirely out of the realm of possibility. Kaprizov’s contract situation in Minnesota has become a looming concern, and if an agreement isn’t reached soon, the Wild may opt to move him rather than risk losing him for nothing in free agency. Kaprizov is an elite winger who would instantly elevate the Leafs’ top line and bring dynamic offensive flair.

2. Jason Robertson (Dallas Stars)

Robertson has been dealing with contract negotiations with the Stars, and the two sides haven’t been able to come to an agreement.

This has led to all sorts of trade speculation to arise this summer. Robertson is a young star and would be a game changer for Toronto . A plus to this is his brother plays for the leafs ( Nicholas Robertson). Who doesn’t like a good old family reunion?

 3. Mason McTavish ( Anaheim Ducks )

Another player struggling with contract negotiations. The Ducks are in rebuild mode and would likely prefer to trade McTavish rather than risk losing him to free agency without getting assets in return. Currently, Toronto’s biggest rival, the Canadiens, are heavily interested in him. McTavish scored 22 goals and 30 assists in 52 games on a Ducks team that ranked 23rd in goals per game. Moving McTavish into the Leafs’ top six could significantly boost his production and be a game-changer for Toronto. At just 22 years old, he brings youth and has the potential to be a centerpiece for the Leafs’ future.
