In a low-scoring, defensive contest, LSU topped Louisiana Tech 23–7, leaning heavily on its defense as the offense struggled to find rhythm. Despite the win, it was far from a dominant showing, especially following the Tigers’ statement victory over Clemson the previous week.
The offense was largely quiet, with few bright spots. Kentucky transfer wide receiver Barion Brown stood out, recording 109 total yards, while Aaron Anderson added 73 yards on 8 receptions. LSU managed just two touchdowns, one coming on a run from Caden Durham, and the other from Nic Anderson, the Oklahoma transfer, who scored his first touchdown as a Tiger.
Heisman hopeful Garrett Nussmeier had a subdued performance. He was sacked three times and threw LSU’s only turnover of the game—a costly interception. While the offense went a perfect 5-for-5 in the red zone, it was unable to consistently convert those opportunities into touchdowns, thanks in large part to a strong showing by Louisiana Tech’s defense.
Despite the offensive stagnation, LSU’s defense held firm, keeping Louisiana Tech out of rhythm and limiting them to a single score. However, this game may serve as a wake-up call for LSU. If the Tigers hope to win the SEC or make a push for the College Football Playoff, they’ll need more consistent offensive execution and focus moving forward.
