The Philadelphia Eagles held off the Kansas City Chiefs 20-17 in a highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch at Arrowhead Stadium. With the win, quarterback Jalen Hurts has now beaten Patrick Mahomes three straight times, joining Joe Burrow as the only other QB to accomplish that feat.
Philadelphia entered the game as slight favorites and backed it up with a strong defensive showing and a clutch performance from kicker Jake Elliott, who nailed two 50-yard field goals to help seal the win.
Hurts didn’t need to do much through the air, completing 14 of 22 passes for just 101 yards. Star wide receiver A.J. Brown was quiet again, finishing with 5 catches for 27 yards. Instead, the Eagles leaned on the ground game, with Saquon Barkley rushing for 88 yards in a gritty effort.
Now 2-0 to start the season, the Eagles are making early noise with back-to-back statement wins. The Chiefs, meanwhile, fall to 0-2 and will look to regroup after a tough start to their title defense.
It’s looking good in Philly so far.
