The Dodgers were handed a humbling sweep at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday, closing out a disappointing series with a 5-3 loss that showcased a clear gap in execution — especially on the mound.

All eyes were on the marquee pitching matchup between Cy Young favorite Paul Skenes and former Cy Young winner Blake Snell, but it was Skenes who stole the show. The Pirates’ ace was electric, tossing six dominant innings, allowing just two hits while striking out eight. Dodgers hitters had no answers for his high-octane fastball and sharp breaking stuff.

On the other side, Snell struggled early and never found a rhythm. He surrendered five runs on nine hits over just five innings, putting the Dodgers in a hole they couldn’t climb out of.

The Dodgers finally showed some life once the Pirates turned to their bullpen, pushing across three runs in the later innings. But by then, the damage was done — and the rally came up short.

With the sweep, the Dodgers fall to 5-5 in their last 10 games and appear to be in a funk. The loss drops them further back in the NL standings, and frustration is clearly mounting in the clubhouse.

They’ll look to regroup quickly as they travel to Baltimore to face the surging Orioles in a weekend series beginning Friday.
