The Dodgers suffered a tough loss to the Phillies after a bullpen meltdown in the sixth inning, ultimately falling 9–6 in a game that also saw Shohei Ohtani make history.
Los Angeles held a commanding 4–0 lead heading into the top of the sixth, but things quickly unraveled. The trouble began with a single by Rafael Marchan, sparking a five-hit rally. Harrison Bader and Kyle Schwarber followed with singles of their own before Bryce Harper delivered a two-run double to cut the lead in half. Brandon Marsh then crushed a three-run homer to right-center, flipping the game and giving the Phillies a 5–4 lead.
The inning ended with a solo home run by Max Kepler, capping a disastrous six-run frame for the Dodgers and giving the Phillies a 6–4 lead.
Despite the collapse, the Dodgers didn’t go quietly. Shohei Ohtani blasted his 50th home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth, becoming just the second player in MLB history—joining Babe Ruth—to hit 50 home runs and strike out 50 batters in a single season. The Dodgers later tied the game 6–6 with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth.
In the top of the ninth, the Dodgers turned to Blake Treinen, who recorded two quick outs before surrendering a double to Weston Wilson. In a questionable move, the Dodgers intentionally walked Bryson Stott to face Rafael Marchan. That decision backfired immediately, as Marchan launched a clutch three-run homer to give the Phillies a 9–6 lead, which held as the final score.
With the win, the Phillies clinched the series and handed the Dodgers another frustrating loss fueled by bullpen struggles.
