PHOENIX — The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a frustrating loss on Tuesday night as their bullpen squandered a dominant outing from Shohei Ohtani, allowing the Arizona Diamondbacks to complete a stunning comeback win.

Shohei Ohtani Shines on the Mound

Shohei Ohtani delivered one of his best pitching performances of the season, showcasing why he remains one of MLB’s premier two-way stars. Ohtani threw 6 shutout innings, allowing just 5 hits while striking out 8 batters. Despite a quiet night at the plate, his effort on the mound had the Dodgers in prime position to secure a victory.

Dodgers Offense Delivers Early

The Dodgers offense gave Ohtani early support. Teoscar Hernández and Ben Rortvedt each launched home runs, helping Los Angeles build a 4-0 lead. Despite Ohtani’s lack of offensive contribution, the bats came through just enough — or so it seemed.

Bullpen Meltdown Begins in the 7th Inning

With a four-run cushion heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Dodgers appeared to be in control. But the tide quickly turned — and it started with two outs. Arizona began to chip away at the lead, and the momentum shift was palpable.

By the ninth inning, the Dodgers bullpen was in full collapse mode.

Tanner Scott’s Nightmare 9th Inning

Closer Tanner Scott was brought in to seal the win but immediately struggled with command. He hit the first batter he faced and then issued a four-pitch walk. A sacrifice bunt advanced the runners, and with one out and a runner on thirdJorge Barrosa hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 4-4.

Then came Geraldo Perdomo, who stepped up with a chance to win it for the Diamondbacks. On the sixth pitch of the at-bat, Perdomo lined a walk-off single, capping a stunning comeback and handing Scott his 10th blown save and the loss. He now leads the league in blown saves.

Final Score: Diamondbacks 5, Dodgers 4

What began as a promising night behind Shohei Ohtani’s dominant pitching performance turned into a painful defeat for the Dodgers. The bullpen’s inability to close out the game not only wasted Ohtani’s brilliance but also raised ongoing concerns about Los Angeles’ late-inning reliability.
