The Los Angeles Dodgers advanced to the National League Championship Series after a dramatic extra-innings victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, sealed by a costly defensive error.
Tyler Glasnow was outstanding on the mound for the Dodgers in Game 4, throwing six scoreless innings while allowing only two hits and striking out eight. The game remained a pitchers’ duel until the top of the seventh, when the Phillies took a 2-0 lead on a two-run double following a J.T. Realmuto single.
The Dodgers fought back in the eighth inning, tying the game on a bases-loaded walk. From there, both bullpens locked in, keeping the score even through nine innings.
In the bottom of the 10th, Tommy Edman singled with one out, followed by a Max Muncy base hit after a Will Smith lineout. Kiké Hernández then drew a walk to load the bases, setting the stage for chaos. Phillies reliever Orion Kerkering fielded a soft dribbler but mistakenly threw home instead of to first, sending the ball to the backstop and allowing the winning run to score — ending Philadelphia’s season in heartbreaking fashion.
The Dodgers now move on to the NLCS, where they’ll face the winner of the Cubs vs. Brewers series.
