The Philadelphia Phillies outslugged the top team in baseball on Sunday, earning a 10-8 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Citizens Bank Park. Fueled by 14 hits and clutch late-game hitting, the Phillies showed they’re more than ready to go toe-to-toe with the league’s best.

Brandon Marsh led the offensive onslaught, going 4-for-5 with a key RBI in the bottom of the 8th inning. With the game tied at 8, Marsh singled to center to bring home the go-ahead run after Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto set the table with them both drawing walks.

Trade deadline pickup Harrison Bader delivered in a big way, going 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs, including an insurance RBI single right after Marsh’s clutch hit. Bader’s speed and bat have added instant impact to the Phillies’ lineup.

“This was a total team effort,” said manager Rob Thomson. “Marsh was locked in at the plate, and Bader gave us exactly the spark we were looking for.”

After the Phillies took the lead, flamethrowing closer Jhoan Duran—another trade deadline addition—came in and sealed the win with a perfect 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn the save.

With the win, the Phillies sent a strong message across the league: they can hang with anyone, including the team currently sitting atop the MLB standings.
